Another very interesting thing about the New Testament church is that they were ruled by Elders. The body did not vote on any issues. The local churches believed that the Elders were divinely appointed by God to look out for their interests when different spiritual and material needs had to be dealt with. The Exchanged Life Center does not believe the Bible teaches congregational rule.
At the present time, we have five elders and two deacons who serve. These are appointed by the serving elders. The newly appointed elders will serve until they believe their time has been fulfilled, they move away, and/or they cannot serve because of doctrinal differences with the leadership of the church.
